John Waring, President - John is a native of Chicago, IL. He holds a B.S. in Fire Protection and Safety Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology as well as a Masters in Business Administration, University of Portland (Oregon). He is a registered Professional Engineer, State of Oregon with a 30-year career in commercial property/package insurance, from Loss Prevention Engineer to Underwriter to Assistant Vice President Underwriting Products & Systems Administration. He has been an avid outdoorsman since his youth, enjoying hiking/backpacking, mountain climbing, alpine and Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, swimming, and scuba diving. John is involved with the Friends of Rib Mountain State Park.
Tracey Schwalbe, Vice Presicent- Tracey is an active Board member for the Friends of New Glarus Woods State Park. She holds a B.A. degree from UW-Madison and JD from UW-Madison. She is an attorney with the WI Department of Workforce Development. Tracy and her husband are the proud parents of three children, one of whom will leave for college this fall. Tracey’s current volunteer roles, in addition to the Friends of New Glarus Woods State Park, include costume manager for the Wilhelm Tell Guild, Girl Scout Troop #291 leader, New Glarus Schools, TAG Parents co-leader, and New Glarus Historic Preservation Commission Board member. Her interests include forest ecology, organic and vernacular architecture, and historic preservation.
Tim Lovett, Secretary - Tim is currently a lawyer and has a wealth of experience in municipal law, real estate, land use, zoning, and development. His background includes working for former Mayor Henry Maier, serving as Deputy Executive Director of the Milwaukee Urban League, and as academic staff with the School of Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where he was involved in various urban planning and land use projects throughout Milwaukee County. Tim is also involved with the United Way of Greater Waukesha and is a member of the Friends of Lakeshore State Park.
Roger Putnam, Treasurer- Roger has been a board member since 2002. He is a former TV anchor and reporter for WJFW and WSAW TV, Wausau. He is the Co-Founder and CEO of Putnam Roby Communications, a PR and communications firm in Madison.
