The Friends of Wisconsin State Parks (FWSP) is committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment. We believe that diversity in our membership, leadership, and activities enhances our ability to achieve our mission of enhancing, preserving, protecting, restoring, and promoting Wisconsin state parks, forests, trails, and recreation areas. This policy outlines our commitment to DEI and the steps we will take to ensure these principles are integrated into all aspects of our organization.

 Commitment to DEI

The Friends of Wisconsin State Parks is dedicated to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of its operations. This includes but is not limited to membership, leadership, programming, and community engagement. We strive to create an atmosphere of mutual respect, non-discrimination, and equal opportunity for all individuals regardless of race, ethnicity, national origin, age, disability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, or religious affiliation.

 Implementation and Accountability

Governance and Leadership

   – The Board of Directors shall ensure that diversity, equity, and inclusion are integral to the governance and operations of the Friends of Wisconsin State Parks.
 – The Board will promote diverse representation on the Board and in all organizational activities.
   – The Board will develop and implement policies and practices that support an inclusive environment.

Membership

   – The Friends of Wisconsin State Parks actively encourages membership from individuals of all backgrounds.
 – We aim to create an inclusive environment where all members feel valued and respected.

Public Participation and Support

   – We will actively encourage public participation and membership in state and local member Friends groups.
– Emphasis will be placed on the accomplishments and support provided by these groups and the advantages and benefits of a state friends group.

 Annual DEI Audit

– An annual DEI audit shall be conducted to assess progress and identify areas for improvement.
– The results of this audit shall be reported to the membership and made publicly available.
